Sutton technology specialist connects with Scouts

As a leading-edge IT company, Sutton-based CM2000, regularly upgrade their hardware to ensure it meets the needs of their expanding customer base.

However, much of the equipment is still in good working order and a discussion with local Scout leaders identified that recondition laptops could be well utilised across the district.

Sutton Coldfield East District have always been keen to utilise technology and the laptops will be used for presentations, training and district events.

In October the District held an internet-enabled Jamboree linking up Scouts from around the world.

With a strong heritage in community support, CM2000 is delighted to have the opportunity to work with the local Scouting movement.

Mark Thomas, Managing Director, said “Scouting is all about undertaking exciting activities and learning new skills. In today’s digital age technology can be an enabler for some of these things and we hope the laptops we have provided to the Scouts will prove a useful resource.”

Nigel Speakman, District Commissioner, added “These laptops are a great additional resource for the district and we are extremely grateful to CM2000 for their support.”

Since CM2000 was founded in 1999 they have donated over £1 million to a wide range of international and UK-based good causes. A number of the initiatives they support are very close to home. For many years now they have funded Age Concern Birmingham’s Telephone Befriending Service which reaches out to older, isolated, lonely people. They also sponsor a series of musical events at Trinity Church in Sutton Coldfield.

Earlier this year a team of staff climbed Mount Snowdon to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society. The company doubled individual fundraising efforts giving a grand total of £5000. CM2000 staff are currently preparing for Save the Children’s Christmas jumper day and collecting for Erdington’s foodbank.
